Frequently asked questions

Questions water heater company owners ask us

The questions installers ask before hiring us, answered directly: price, contracts, how fast it works, ownership of your accounts, and how we handle rental-to-ownership messaging.

Written by Ali Sedighi, MBALast updated:

These are the questions water heater and tankless installers ask us most, usually in the first five minutes of a call. The short answers are in the list on this page. Below, we expand on the four that matter most before anyone spends money.

Frequently asked questions

How much does water heater marketing cost with you?

Monthly plans start at $2,998 and websites at $3,500 one-time, in Canadian dollars, plus GST/HST for your province (GST and QST in Quebec). Ad spend paid to Google or Meta is separate and billed to your own account.

Is there a contract or lock-in?

No lock-in. Engagements start with a 7-day free trial and no credit card. Ali will confirm notice terms in writing before any paid work begins.

How soon will we see more water heater calls?

Paid search on urgent phrases usually produces tracked calls in the first week or two. Map rankings and content take three to six months to build. The first month is about learning which calls book.

We tried an agency before and got nothing. Why would this be different?

Ask what you were measured on. If the reports showed clicks and impressions but not booked installs, nobody knew what worked. We track every call to its source and report cost per booked install, and we'll tell you if the numbers say stop.

Who owns the website, Google Business Profile and ad accounts?

You do, from day one. Everything is set up in your name, with us added as managers. If you leave, nothing needs to be handed back because it was never ours.

Can you promise a number of leads or a ranking?

No. Anyone promising that is guessing or using tactics that can backfire. We show you the plan's logic, our real HVAC results, and honest monthly reporting.

What do your reports show?

Tracked calls, answered calls, booked installs, average ticket and cost per booked install, split into emergency and planned work, with a short written summary of what changed and what's next.

Are you a water heater contractor?

No. We are a marketing and business consulting service. We never install, repair or service equipment, and we never send anyone to a customer's home.

Can you help us win homeowners who rent their tank?

Yes, with clear rent-versus-own explanations and worked numbers. We never name or criticise a rental company and never interpret a homeowner's contract; we tell readers to check their own agreement.

Do you work only with large companies?

No. Many clients are owner-operators with one or two trucks. The plan size should match what your margin can support, and the free trial audit shows that.

Do you work in Quebec?

Yes. Quebec's language rules require French for commercial advertising and for websites aimed at Quebec customers, so campaigns there are planned in French, with English alongside where useful.

Can you advertise rebates for us?

Where an official program exists and applies, yes, with a link to the administrator and a date. We never invent amounts, and we tell readers to confirm eligibility before buying.

How do we reach you?

Call or text (604) 632-4959, or email Ali@Sedighi.ca. We're reachable Mon–Fri 9–6 Pacific. We usually reply within one business day, often sooner.

What you pay, and what you don't

You pay a monthly plan fee for our work, and your ad spend goes directly to Google or Meta on your own account. That separation means you always see exactly what was spent on media and what was paid for management.

Plans start at $2,998 per month and websites at $3,500 one-time. The pricing page lays out every plan and package, plus a worked break-even example based on the margin from one installed water heater. Our fees never include equipment, labour or permits, because we don't do installation work of any kind.

How fast it works, honestly

Speed depends on the channel. Paid search for urgent replacement phrases can bring calls within days, because it buys visibility. Map rankings, area pages and comparison content take months, because they earn visibility.

A sensible first quarter looks like this:

  1. Weeks 1–2: tracking numbers live, map listing fixed, the site's first screen shows a price range and arrival window.
  2. Weeks 3–6: urgent-intent ads running only during answered hours, with daily search-term cleanup.
  3. Weeks 7–12: first content for rental buyouts or tankless upgrades, review requests after every install, budget moved toward what books.

The same-day replacement leads page covers the paid side in more detail.

If an agency let you down before

This is the most common thing we hear, and it's a fair concern. Usually the problem was one of three things: nobody tracked calls to booked jobs, the campaigns mixed emergency and research searches, or the agency held the accounts so the owner couldn't see inside.

We fix all three by default. Every account is yours. Emergency and planned work are tracked separately. Reports lead with booked installs. If after a fair test the numbers say the channel doesn't pay, we say so and shift the budget or stop.

Rental messaging without the risk

Rental-to-ownership marketing is a real opportunity, but it has to be done carefully. We write content that explains renting versus owning with numbers the homeowner can check, and we always send them to their own agreement for buyout or removal terms. We don't name rental companies, don't call contracts unfair, and don't give legal advice.

In Ontario, the province restricts in-home contracts for water heaters unless the homeowner invited the business, which is one more reason inbound marketing works better than knocking on doors. Our Ontario page and the rental buyout guide explain how we approach it.

Questions to ask yourself before you call

Owners get the most out of a first conversation when they've thought about a few things beforehand:

  • How many water heater calls did we miss last month? If you don't know, that's the first thing to fix.
  • Can we really do same-day? Be honest about stock and crew flexibility before advertising it.
  • What share of our area rents? Even a rough sense helps decide whether buyout messaging is worth building.
  • Which jobs do we want more of? Emergency tank swaps, tankless upgrades, heat pump water heaters, or all three.
  • What can we spend for three months to give a channel a fair test?

A note on our positioning

WaterHeater.Digital is a digital marketing and business consulting service for water heater and heating companies in Canada. We aren't a contractor, so you won't see us quoting jobs, sending technicians or competing with you for customers.

Still have a question?

Ask it directly. The contact page explains what to include so we can answer properly the first time, and the about page explains who you'll be talking to.
